Dec 21: Recycle your stuff for a good cause.

In time for the Holidays, we have seat up a club account at the Recycling Centre so that YOU can take all the recycling items and donate to the club. All the proceeds will go towards the new club cabin! So, go through your garage and storage areas,  gather up all that ol’ recyclables and bring to the centre.

Dec 14: The following age groups are finally training!

Please note the following age groups are now up and running on weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays. U10, U12, U14 and U16 Snowboard Competitive groups are already two days into the season. U12, U14, U16 and U18 skiers are also up and going.

Dec 3: THANK YOU to Lara at LUNAS Fitness!

As you might be aware of, Lara Collingwood, owner and operator of LUNAS Fitness, has kindly offered free dryland training for the club U6-8 athletes two years going!!

Dec 2: Smithers Ski & Snowboard Club is awarded Hosting BC Grant

Hosting BC, the Province of BC and viaSport are now community partners of SportChek Canadian National SX Championship, scheduled to take off on March 15-19, 2016.

Sep 17: 2015/16 SSSC season pass price at $339.

Hudson Bay Mountain Resort is offering a $339 for a Season Pass for all Smithers Ski & Snowboard Club members.

Aug 28: Extended classes! LUNAS Fitness for 6-10 year olds!

Luna’s Fitness and Lara Collingwood will continue to offer great training for big and small, this time it’s for the small (U8-10 or age 6-10) and it’s an opportunity that you do NOT want to miss. The sessions are FREE of charge for SSSC registered members for 2015/16.
All exercises will be fun and fitness focused, age appropriate, using body weight exercises only, as well as flexibility and balance work.  Workouts will be instructed by Lara Collingwood and a handful of parent helpers.

Mar 11: SSSC host to Canadian SX Championships 2015

This is a once in our clubs lifetime experience! To be the host to the 2015 SX National Championships is huge, not only for the club, but for the entire NORTH and our community.

Jan 29: SSSC Special Olympics athletes are gearing up!

This coming weekend our club will host a two day training camp for a handful of SOBC athletes from our club, but also from Quesnel, in preparation for the Provincial Champs at Sun Peaks, February 19-21.

I’m not sure what is more of value to an athlete; to do well in an event, or being together as a large family sharing, eating, training, playing, waxing skis, meeting and traveling?

Sep 22: JumpStart with Canadian Tire.

Jumpstart helps kids between the ages of 4 to 18 by assisting with the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or transportation for sports and physical activity programming. Don’t be shy have a peek.

Sep 18: PacSport North and SportMed BC came to town!

Four coaches from Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club attended PacSport North and SportMed BC two seminars, one on Sport related concussions and one on Train Smart off-snow training.

Aug 27: NEW and easy ways to volunteer with the club!

Sometimes we don’t want to volunteer due to lack of knowledge in the area, we don’t ski or ride or we don’t know who to contact. No worries, Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club are trying to change that by using VolunteerSpot.

To see an athlete raise their arms on the Olympic podium with tears in the eyes, to hear an athlete yell out loud when a goal is accomplished and a mental barrier broken to pieces, to see the smile on an athletes face, after sticking his or her first front-flip and to see an athlete pump the fist, after a wicked performance is PRICELESS!
